Our candidate

I grew up in Brighton and Hove and currently teach law at BHASVIC. Coming from a family of teachers I have a lifelong interest in education inspired by my mother who taught at Mile Oak Primary school for the majority of her career.

Before teaching I worked in charity law, believing that that law should be used as a social driver for positive change.

Delivering for you ...

  • We have completed 42 new council homes in Victoria Road and are drawing up plans to build more but not on Benfield Valley

  • We have refurbished Station Rd toilets and re-opened the Vale Park toilets

  • We are planning an outdoor gym for Victoria recreation ground and are currently consulting residents on what they would like to see there

  • We are providing new recycling bins for cartons and small electricals at Station Rd, Lindfield and Portslade Library

  • We have improved waste collection services by adding an additional afternoon round to mop up missed collections

  • We have taken action on overgrown weeds in pavements and introduced a system so that the worst weeds get cleared first

  • We have started to clean our city of litter and graffiti

  • There’s still a lot to do and we will continue to consult and work with our community to deliver the best possible outcomes

Here’s what we’ve done since May

  • We have reopened public toilets across the city, and are working hard to reopen more.We have CANCELLED the huge rise in parking charges in four parking zones, including the hospital.

  • We have restored the lifeguard service, reversing Green Party cuts, so residents can enjoy the beach in safety.

  • We’re holding Southern Water to account and have forced them to fund year-round water testing to ensure the sea is safe.

  • We’re redesigning the planned works on the seafront, to include an improved two-way cycle lane, without removing a lane of car traffic.

  • We took the Conservative government to the High Court to prove the practice of housing unaccompanied asylum seeking children in city hotels was unlawful.

  • The council acts as corporate parent for children in care. We’ve established a shadowing scheme for young people in care, so they can gain valuable work experience by accompanying councillors in their work.

  • We have brought forward the end of the western road bus diversion by 6 MONTHS, as it was delaying bus journeys for residents accessing the town centre.
